Abstract

1,127,278. Fluid-pressure apparatus. WESTINGHOUSE AIR BRAKE CO. March 20, 1967 [May 19, 1966], No. 12955/67. Heading F1P. [Also in Division B3] An externally adjustable throttle valve controlling the flow of fluid exhausted through bores 12, 8, 13, 14 in a cylinder head 4 by a piston 5 as it nears the end of its stroke in a cylinder 2 comprises a threaded member 19 and a nut 20 engaged therewith, the valve member thread being distorted at one end to prevent movement of the end through the nut and the nut being secured against withdrawal from the bore 8. Adhesive 28 is placed in a groove 27 in the nut to prevent escape of fluid under pressure and a shoulder 18 is peined over the nut to secure it to the body. A fibre insert 31 is located in an annular cavity in the nut to act as a seal between the nut and the member 19.
