Abstract
1,059,332. Fluid-pressure apparatus. ALKON PRODUCTS CORPORATION. Sept. 11, 1963 [Dec. 3, 1962], No. 35830/63. Heading F1P. A cushioning plug 28 Fig. 1 (not shown) secured at an end of the rod 16 of a hydraulic or pneumatic actuated piston 20 and slidable into an axial bore 36 in the cylinder end 11 as the piston approaches the end of its stroke comprises a sleeve 29 having a tapered free end 29a Fig. 2 (not shown) and its other end held against the piston face by a retaining ring 30 fixed to the rod and pressing against a sealing ring 33 in a sleeve groove 32; the sleeve 29 having radial clearance 34, 34a with respect to the rod 16 and the ring 30 thus allowing radial movement of the sleeve relative to the piston face and ring 30 so as to accommodate slight eccentricity between the rod 16 and bore 36 thereby facilitating entry of the plug 28 into the bore 36. The return stroke is initiated by passage of pressure fluid through a by-pass 38, 39 controlled by an adjustable throttle valve 41 or by a check valve 25.
