1420389 Intensifiers SOC D'EXPLOITATION DES RESSORTS AUTO-AMORTISSEURS JARRET 9 April 1973 [12 April 1972] 16859/73 Heading F1D A device for producing a high output force comprises a piston 2 driven by fluid-pressure in a chamber 3 and an output piston 6 slidable in a cylinder 5 coaxial with the cylinder chamber 3, the force applied to the piston 2 being transmitted to the piston 6 by a piston-rod 2a sealingly penetrating into the cylinder 5 to act on a fixed mass of elastomer contained in a chamber 7 between the piston 6 and the cylinder 5. A plunger 10 is adjustably mounted in the wall of the cylinder 5 to enable the volume of the chamber 7 to be varied. The rightward return stroke of the piston 6 is effected by supplying pressurized fluid to a chamber 4, whereby a head 9 on the rod 2a engages a ring 8 to return the piston 6.
