Abstract

854,565. Valve gear; cylinders. WHITE, H. T. Jan. 22, 1959 [April 23, 1958], No. 2443/59. Classes 122 (1) and 122 (2). [Also in Groups XXVIII and XXIX] A fluid-pressure motor piston 32 is secured to plungers 33, 34 reciprocating in pump chambers 38, 39. The pump and motor are supplied with fluid by a centrifugal pump 12, the supply to and the exhaust from the motor being controlled by an electro-magnetically actuated valve V controlled by a timer T. The bore of the motor cylinder 20 increases from the centre 25 whereby an annular gap O varies during the stroke giving the motor acceleration/ deceleration characteristics depending on the degree of taper of the cylinder.
