Abstract

703,786. Jointing by forging. BRITISH OXYGEN CO., Ltd., and ROUSSET, R. P. Oct. 14, 1952 [Aug. 30, 1951], No. 20503/51. Class 83 (4) In a method of sealing a tube 12, Fig. 3, in a bore 11 of a body 10 an end portion 14 of the tube is upset in a groove 13 in the bore by an axial force exerted between the end of the tube against a counterforce exerted by a spindle 17, Fig. 2, which is screw threaded into a portion 15 of the tube. The end of the tube is upset by a thrust member 19 slidingly forced along the spindle by a nut 18 and having a projecting portion 19a which engages the end of the tube within the bore 11.
