Abstract

The central tube (1) is fitted with a small bore (7) at the centre so that the tube (2) may be pressed up against it. The second tube may similarly be pressed in from the opposite side. The sleeve is tapped internally to take a collar (16), which has a hexagonal nut on the outside. The end of the collar is split with a number of equally spaced longitudinal grooves (20). The bottom of the collar is fitted with a tapered bore (13), and the inside of the collar is fitted with internal rings. An 'O' ring (5) is pushed in before the collar to the extreme face (12) and the split sections of the collar press at the points (22) onto the pipe.
