962,938. Extracting tools. A. KLEINBONGARTZ, and E. KAISER, [trading as KLEINBONGARTZ & KAISER]. Sept. 28, 1962, No. 36832/62. Heading B4C. An extracting tool for removing pulleys from shafts comprises a hollow guide spindle 1 having a plunger 2 and adapted to be screwthreaded into a cross-piece 6, and a piston 22 located in a pressure chamber defined by a body member 11 containing hydraulic fluid 20, the guide spindle being adapted to be connected to the body member and the pressure piece connected to the piston. The spindle 1 is provided with a flange 9 clamped to a member 11 by a nut 10, the nut may be split and clamped by a screw 13. The plunger 2 is attached to the piston by means of a ball catch 27 and may be provided with a detachable thrust end portion 3. A small piston 18 is located in a bore in the member 11 and is acted upon by a screw 15. Pulling arms 7 are mounted on the crosspiece. In operation, when the screw 15 is rotated, the oil 20 in the space between the pistons is pressurized so that the plunger is forced outwardly with respect to the spindle. In modifications, the flange 9 may be provided with a screw thread for attachment to the member 11 and handles attached to the screw 15 and member 11.
