Abstract

528,531. Lubricating apparatus. KREMER, R. W. May 9, 1939, No. 13817. [Classes 102 (i) and 102 (ii)] A lubricating apparatus comprises a plunger 2 slidable along a tubular guide rod 3 in a lowpressure chamber 1 and spring- urged towards a high-pressure cylinder 5, and a high-pressure piston 6 arranged co-axially within the rod 3 and movable against a spring 9 into the cylinder 5, a stop 10 on the rod 3 causing the plunger to be raised when the rod 3 is raised by a handle 16. When in the raised position, a hook member 27 on the plunger is engaged by a detachable locking device 18, 19 so that, when the rod 3 is moved towards the cylinder 5, the plunger 2 is disengaged from the rod. The spring 9 is coiled around the piston 6 within the rod 3, and removal of the piston from the rod is prevented by means of a pin 12. The rod 3. is adjustable axially by means of a nut 14 detachably threaded into the cover 15 of the chamber 1. In a modification, the rod 3 has a collar abutting the cover 15 and is detachably connected to the nozzle end of the chamber 1.
