Abstract
601,451. Converting rotary into reciprocating motion. UNI-GUN LUBRICATING EQUIPMENT, Ltd., and MARTONFALVY, I. C. Jan. 16, 1945, No. 1338. [Class 80 (i)] [Also in Group XXVIII] In a grease gun in which a piston 18 draws grease from a container 7 and.delivers it under pressure through an outlet 13, the piston is actuated by a spring 24 and screw gearing that converts rotation of an electric motor 26 into a reciprocating motion. The motor 26 drives through gearing a threaded spindle 33 and a pivoted link 36 is connected to the piston 18 and has formed on its end a follower 39 capable of engaging the threads on the spindle 33. Pressure on the trigger 40 first actuates a switch to start the motor and then raises a plunger 43 to engage the follower 39 with the spindle 33. The piston 18 is withdrawn from the cylinder and the follower 39 is retained in engagement with the spindle 33 by guides 47 until upon leaving the guides it is moved away from the spindle by a spring or cam surface and the piston 18 returned into the cylinder by the spring 24.
