527,225. Pneumatic single-stroke apparatus. SOC. D'INVENTlONS AERONAUTIQUES ET MECANIQUES S.I.A.M. April 3, 1939, No. 10401. Convention date, April 11, 1938. [Class 8 (ii)] [Also in Groups XXIX and XXXIII] A device for locking a piston 1 or the like relatively to its cylinder 3, particularly applicable to jacks or other telescopic systems for actuating the retractable undercarriages of aeroplanes, comprises claws 9 carried by a resilient sleeve 8 fixed to the piston 1, which are moved inwardly by engagement with a fixed guide surface 15 and then snap behind a shoulder 16 to lock the piston to the cylinder at the end of its stroke, the claws being held in such position by a spring-pressed plunger 10 which slides inside them after it has been pushed back by the claws to compress the spring 13. To release the locking-device. pressure fluid is admitted through the pipe and forces back the plunger 10, so that the claws 9 can slide inwardly over the shoulder 16 as the piston I moves in the cylinder. The apparatus may be actuated hydraulically or pneumatically
