Abstract

912,441. Valve grinding tools. CICCHINE, A. Sept. 25, 1961 [Dec. 24, 1960], No. 44363/60. Class 60. A tool for valve grinding comprises a suction cup 4 which engages the head of the valve and is connected to pump means for creating suction within the cup. A passage 12 connects the underside of the cup with the pump means which are constituted by the interior of a tubular holder 5 to which the cup is secured. A piston 8 attached to a rod 9 is movable within the holder 5 by an external ring 13 to which the piston-rod 9 is attached by a transverse screw 14 projecting through slots 15 in the side of the tubular member 5; a re-entrant portion 16 at the top of the slot enables the piston to be secured in the withdrawn position. A hole 20 at the upper end of the holder 5 is provided to engage a spring-loaded pin 18 in a cylindrical portion 17 of an adaptor 19 whereby the device may be driven by an electric drill. In a second embodiment the piston-rod extends through the top of the handle 6, having a separate knob on the operative end of the rod which is then held in the withdrawn position by projections from the rod which, after passing through slots in the closed end of the tubular member 5, are displaced by twisting the rod so that the projections engage the end of the member.
