Abstract

A suction grip valve grinding tool: for gripping the surface of a valve. The suction grip valve grinding tool comprises a stem 3, which provides means for attachment to an existing power tool; at one end of the stem 3 is fixed, a suction grip 4, a cap 5, a cam lever 6, and a stud 7. The suction grip 4 is actuated by the cam lever 6, whereby the shape of the cam lever 7 is as such, so to create a downward pressure on the cap 5 when pulled down through its arc; in turn the stem 3 is pulled upwards, thus increasing the suction between the tool and the valve surface.

Suction grip valve-grinding tool This invention relates to a suction grip
valve-grinding tool.
The process by which valves are seated into their position within an internal combustion engine has proved difficult in the past due to the insufficient gripping methods of attaching the tool to the valve.
An object of this invention is to improve the amount of suction created between the tool and surface of the valve whilst also providing a means by which the tool can be rotated using a conventional power drill.
Accordingly, this invention provides a valve-grinding tool comprising a stem that can be fitted into an existing power tool, a suction grip that is fixed to the end of the stem and contained within a cap, a cam lever which is fixed to the stem, and a stud which attaches the cam lever to the stem.
Preferably the suction grip valve-grinding tool is made up from a combination of plastics and/or rubber materials A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: Figure 1 shows a side view of the suction grip tool in an open position Figure 2 illustrates the suction grip tool in a closed position Referring to the drawing the suction grip tool comprises of a stem 3, adapted at the top to fit into an existing power drill to rotate the tool and the valve against a grinding surface, with a suction grip 4, typically of plastic or rubber attached at the end of the stem. The cam-lever 6, is fixed onto the stem using the stud 7, its shape is such so as to create a downward pressure on the cap when pulled down through its arc whilst also pulling the stem upwards increasing suction between tool and valve as shown in Fig 2.

Claims (3)

  1. Claims i. A suction grip valve-grinding tool comprising a stem that can be
    fitted into an existing power tool, a suction grip that is fixed to the end of the stem and contained within a cap, a cam lever which is fixed to the stem, and a stud which attaches the cam lever to the stem.
  2. 2. A suction grip valve-grinding tool as claimed in claim wherein means are provided on the stem to allow attachment to an existing power tool.
  3. 3. A suction grip valve-grinding tool as claimed in claim or claim 2 wherein a cam lever is provided on to the stem in order to provide means of suction against valve surface prior to and during rotation.
