882,472. Machine-tool details. NEWTON & BENNETT Ltd. March 14, 1960 [March 14, 1959], No. 8898/59. Class 83 (3). An hydraulic work-clamping jack has a cylinder 10 closed at one end by a recessed spring- ring 11 the other end having a cover 12 with a bore to guide the clamping member 19. The latter forms part of a bell-shaped cylinder 17 fitting over a ram 14. Fluid pressure is supplied through a connection 16 and bore 15 in the ram to move the cylinder and clamping member. A return spring 22 is interposed between a flange 21 on the piston and the cover 12. The operating part 20 of the clamping member may be renewable or interchangeable.
