Abstract

1,086,526. Jointing by stamping. PARKERHANNIFIN CORPORATION. Oct. 2, 1964, No. 40128/64. Heading B3Q. [Also in Division F2] A tool for crimping the end of a ferrule 16 on to a pipe 11 comprises a die 76, 77 holding the pipe and ferrule, and a die 50 operated by an hydraulic piston 42 for contracting the ferrule-end. A holder, Fig. 5, for the split-die 76, 77 is attached to the tool by bolts 79 and includes side members 61 jointed by a base 62, and a clamp 63 secured by a bolt 71. Diesection 76 may be welded to the base 62. The die 50 is attached to a shank 46 of the piston 42 by a bolt 56 which locates in the end of the pipe 11. Hydraulic pressure for the piston 42 is supplied by a hand-pump 27 connected to the tool by a flexible lead 28 having a ball-valve 87 released by a plunger 89 on the tool. The pump has a plunger 94 operated by a lever 97, and ball-valves 99, 100. A by-pass 101 may be opened by a screw 103 to allow return of the tool-piston 42 by a spring 47.
