Abstract

931,592. Screw presses. GEO. H. HUGHES Ltd. Feb. 10, 1961 [Feb. 10, 1960], No. 4630/60. Class 87(2). A screw press is operated by a doubleacting pneumatic cylinder which acts on the threaded spindle 5 through thrust bearings 15. In a modification, fluid operated cylinders are connected between the crosshead 11 and the horizontal frame member 9, and single-acting cylinders may be used in co-operation with return springs.
