Abstract
1376970 Removing sleeves from shafts FRIED KRUPP GmbH 15 Sept 1972 [16 Sept 1971] 42988/72 Heading B4C [Also in Division B3] An hydraulic tool for forcing a tapered sleeve 4 into and withdrawing it from a gap between a grooved roll 3 of a wire drawing mill and a supporting shaft 6 comprises outer and inner sleeves 1, 2, defining an annular cylinder space in which is movable an annular piston 1.1 carried by one of the sleeves 1, 2, means 2.4 for coupling the tool to the shaft, when one end of the tool is presented to the shaft 6, for forcing the sleeve 4 into the gap, means 2.3 for coupling the tool to the sleeve 4, when the other end of the tool is presented to the shaft 6, for withdrawing the sleeve 4 and a valve 5.1 for applying hydraulic pressure to either end of the cylinder space. For mounting the roll 3 on the shaft 6 (lower half of the figure), the tool is assembled on the shaft 6 by engaging claws 8 on the end of the shaft 6 with claws 2.4 on the end of the inner sleeve 2, which is formed of two parts 2.1 and 2.2 screwed together. A chamber b defined by the sleeves 1, 2 and piston 1.1 is supplied with fluid from a pump 5 via the valve 5.1 to cause a thrust ring 1.2 screwed to the outer sleeve 1 to force the sleeve 4 between the roll 3 and shaft 6. The sleeve 4 is forced off the shaft 6 (upper half of the figure), by turning the tool round so that the other end of the outer sleeve 1 engages the roll 3, engaging claws 2.3 on the other end of the inner sleeve 2 with claws 7 on the sleeve 4 and supplying fluid under pressure to the chamber a on the other side of the piston I.I.
