Abstract

121,632. Spencer, J. A. Dec. 20, 1917. Channels and reservoirs in pistons and stuffing- boxes.-In piston packing consisting of bevelled rings, a central split ring F is made with clearance from the cylinder wall and with radial passages. Lubricant is supplied to the back of the ring F by a tube passing through the piston, or lubricant may be supplied to the outer surface of the ring F by a port Y' in the cylinder wall. The packing rings G are also formed with lubricating grooves.
