Abstract

2702. Shaw, H. S. Hele-, and Martineau, F. L. Feb. 19. Revolving - cylinder pumps. - Revolving- cylinder and reciprocating - piston pumps and motors, of the type in which the pistons coact with eccentric rings which float round with the cylinder body, have cylindrical bearings provided with special means of lubrication. The eccentric ring runs in plain cylindrical bearings 12 in slide blocks 19 and can be adjusted by means of the rods 8, 9. The bearings are preferably lined with white metal 13 and are lubricated by oil caught in the wells or grooves 10 in the end covers. The oil is supplied to spring-pressed pads 14, Fig. 3, by passages 16, 17, provision being made by grooves 18 for the movement of the block 19. The piston - rollers are lined with white metal and are lubricated by oil from the cylinders passing through holes 27, 28. The bearings 12 may also be lubricated by passages in the blocks 19 supplied by tubes from the pressure oil supply in the case of a motor. The central valve 30, Figs. 1 and 4, has supply and exhaust ports 33 communicating with longitudinal ducts 31, 32, one of which opens into a groove communicating with the pipe 37, while the other opens into the chamber 43 communicating with the pipe 36. In the case of a liquid-pressure motor, leakage is made up through the valves 39 from the chamber 41 supplied by a pipe 40.
