586,577. Pistons. PENCO, C. Jan. 28, 1944, No. 1639. [Class 122 (i)] Air is supplied through pipes d to a point in the cylinder which lies always between the head and skirt rings 7, c respectively, and at a pressure slightly above that of the lubricating oil, passage of which to the combustion chamber is thus prevented ; the air escapes past the ring c. The latter is provided with oblique grooves 8 and an annular channel 9. The air also assists in centralising the piston.'
