851,813. Cooling pistons. NORTH EASTERN MARINE ENGINEERING CO. Ltd., HUNTER, H., and YELLOWLEY, G. Feb. 1, 1957 [Feb. 10, 1956], No. 4325/56. Class 122 (1). The underside 18 of a fluid-cooled piston-head 10 is conical and has radially-extending corrugations or ribs 24. Cooling fluid, such as oil or water, supplied through a passage 14 and port 16 in the piston-rod 12 flows around the pistonhead and through passages 28 in the ribs 24 to a central chamber 22 from where it is returned through a second passage 20 in the rod.
