Abstract

1,211,281. Printing machines. SCHNELLPRESSENFABRIK FRANKENTHAL ALBERT & CIE A.G. 7 Nov., 1968 [16 Nov., 1967], No. 52729/68. Heading B6C. Impression surfaces.-A blanket 7, during its attachment by devices 5 to an impression cylinder 6 of a printing machine, is smoothed and tensioned by a member 1 arranged parallel to the cylinder and having a friction surface e.g. of plush, which contacts the blanket. The cylinder 6 is rotated in the direction of the arrow, Fig. 1, during smoothing. As described, the member 1 is a non-rotatable cylinder, and its friction surface is tensioned over a resilient underlayer. Nuts and bolts secure the roller 1 to arms pivoted at 2 to a bracket 3, and the arms can be retained in an inoperative position shown full line, by a latch 16. By slackening its securing nuts, the roller may be allowed to rotate.
