Abstract

1,185,100. Stencil duplicator. GESTETNER Ltd. 30 Aug., 1968 [13 Oct., 1967], No. 46850/67. Heading B6C. When a new stencil is applied to duplicator cylinder 11 it is secured at its leading edge by studs 2 and flap 4 and fed on to the cylinder 11 over rotatable bar 5, as the cylinder 11 is turned either under power or by hand. If the stencil has a backing sheet cover 6 may be closed during application, so that rib 8 contacts the backing sheet and, by forming the stencil and backing sheet combination 1 to follow a tortuous path, brakes it, and so smooths the stencil on to the cylinder 11. Preferably bar 5 is a cylindrical rod rotatably mounted in bearings in the frame of the duplicator. After the combination 1 of stencil and backing sheet has been applied to the cylinder 11 the backing sheet may be removed by tearing along a line of perforations. If desired, a proof copy may be made on the backing sheet prior to its removal.
