Abstract

1,168,113. Rotary printing presses. G. RITZERFELD. 2 Feb., 1967 [8 Feb., 1966], No. 5194/67. Heading B6C. A rotary hectographic duplicating machine is provided with means by which an exhausted master sheet is restored to its original condition whilst mounted on the printing cylinder. In the described embodiments such means take the form of mechanism by which the exhausted master is covered with the coated side of a hectographic dye-stuff transfer sheet and irradiated by an infra-red heater. After restoration, the transfer sheet is removed, if desired, automatically, and the duplicator is ready for further use. Instead of infra-red irradiation, the electrode of a high frequency generator may be used. The printing cylinder is associated with cam means by which the radiator is switched on only whilst the assembly of master and transfer sheet is passing therebeneath.
