Abstract

1320310 Printing apparatus ING C OLIVETTI & C SpA 19 April 1971 [27 Feb 1970] 25957/71 Heading B6C A rotary press utilizing a printing drum 20 and an impression cylinder 32 comprises means whereby the image that is inked and oiled at station 56, Fig. 2, or oiled and inked in succession at stations 57, 65, Fig. 2a, is formed of hydrophilic toner particles which have been used to develop the latent image as applied to the drum through the use of a charge applicator 40 and an optic projection device 44. The printing process used is lithography and the ink applied is an aqueous based composition. In the press shown diagrammatically in Fig. 2 the rotation of the drum is used to automatically control the machine which feeds photosensitive paper on to the drum via station 38 and withdraws the printed copy sheet at station 68. The control is subject to a counter mechanism 22 pre-set through knob 24. If needed for only one copy the printing plate is withdrawn via station 76.
