Abstract

642,874. Stencilling apparatus. GESTETNER, Ltd., and GESTETNER, S. Sept. 29, 1948, No. 25405. [Class 100 (ii)] Means for facilitating the securing of stencils to the stencil carriers-of duplicating machines comprises a plurality of bars 3, 14, spaced apart in parallel relationship to each other and to the axis of rotation of an inking cylinder, over and under which bars the stencil sheet 19 and backing sheet 18 are caused to pass when the heading 17 of the backing sheet is engaged by the stencil-fastening means 20, so that by setting the machine in motion the stencil and backing sheet will be drawn over and under the bars until they have completely passed between them and the stencil has been smoothly applied to the carrier. The heading 17 is perforated to engage the fastening means 20. The bar 3 is fixed, being secured at each end to an end member, the end member 1 being detachably secured to one of the side members of the machine frame by means of keyhole slots 4 engaging a headed pen 5 and a pin 6, and the other end member having a web extending to a lug furnished with a plain slot to engage about a conduit for the leads to an electric lamp: The bars 14 are secured at their ends to members 13 hingedly connected by screws 12 to the end members, An element 15 secured to the bars 14 intermediate in their length facilitates the displacement of the members 13, whereby the bars 14 are movable away from the bar 3 for insertion of the sheets, and towards it to hold the sheets against the bar 3.
