Abstract
1,199,712. Container closures. ADDIS Ltd. 21 May, 1969 [21 Jan., 1969], No. 3374/69. Heading B8T. [Also in Division F4U] In a vacuum flask closure arrangement, the screw-threaded lower edge 23 of the head 21 of a plastics stopper 19 is adapted to co-operate with corresponding screw threads 24 on the shoulder 5 of an outer canister 2 housing a double-walled vacuum vessel 1 and a resilient seal 12 is interposed between the canister shoulder and outlet mouth 16 of the vessel. In use, as the canister shoulder 5 is screwed on to the canister 2 the vacuum vessel is forced upwardly to deform the seal against a pouring lip 7 formed on the shoulder, and the inner edge 18 of the annulus 13 of the seal is forced radially inwardly of the mouth 16 to provide a sealing surface with the stopper, whilst the stopper extends into the neck of the vacuum vessel but is not in sealing contact therewith. Various shapes for the stopper are described and shown, e.g. a cylindrical upper portion 31, followed by an inverted frusto-conical portion 32 an annular band 33 and a domed cap-like portion 34.
