Abstract

1,198,338. Butter package; container closures. KALLE A.G. 2 Aug., 1968 [2 Aug., 1967], No. 36992/68. Headings B8C and B8T. A container for butter comprises a downwardly tapering, synthetic plastics dish 1 of rectangular cross-section and having an outwardly-flanged upper rim 2, a cover foil 3 adapted to extend over the contents of the dish and the rim 2 and formed with a pull tab 4, and a plastics lid 5 adapted to snap over the rim 2. As shown, the base of the dish 1 is formed with a channel 6 and bevelled corners 7. The central area of the lid may be recessed, as shown; alternatively, the lid may be flattopped. The dish and/or the cover foil and/or the lid may be provided with printed matter using metallic pigments. The dish and the lid may be of P.V.C. The foil 3 ensures airtight sealing of the butter and, after its removal, any remaining butter may be sealed in a dust- and light-proof manner by the lid 5.
