Abstract

1.024,077. Container closures. PHILIP MORRIS Inc. May 13, 1964 [May 27, 1963], No. 19985/64. Headings B8P and B8T. A container, preferably for cigarettes, comprises a rectangular body 10 and a cover 11, the body having a neck-band 20 and an annular shoulder 21, and the cover 11 having an upper portion 25 which fits over the neck-band 20 and an enlarged skirt portion 26 which extends below the shoulder 21 and fits snugly over it. The body 10, and cover 11, which may be formed of drawn thermoplastic material, have rounded corners and may bear embossing 12. Flat areas 13, 15 are provided for labels on the body and cover, which are also provided with ribs 14 and 17, the ribs 14 terminating below the shoulder 21, thus leaving a smooth band 35 which may be extended below the bottom edge of the cover. The top edge of the cover is a small distance above the top edge 33 of the neck 20, thus allowing the wrapped or unwrapped contents to project slightly above the top edge 33.
