Abstract

1,176,291. Disposable container; stoppers &c. A.E.I. CORP. 7 May, 1968, No. 21601/68. Headings B8C, B8D and B8T. A disposable container 10 comprises a bowl 16 having a rim 20 coated on its upper surface with a sealable material 15 (Fig. 4, not shown), a snap-in lid 12, and a cover 13 with a coating on its lower surface to seal with the rim. The bowl, which may be of aluminium, has on its upper portion an annular recess 18 with a shoulder 19 and a reinforcing ring 27, and a vertical portion 22 that terminates in the horizontally disposed rim 20 having a bead 21 at its outer edge. The coating material may be a vinyl compound and may extend to cover the inner surface of the bowl. The lid, which may be of plastics material, has a depending annular flange 24 which fits into ring 27, and an upstanding gripping lug 26 the upper surface of which is approximately flush with that of the lid. The cover 13 is of laminated material and may comprise a layer of paper 28, metal, e.g. aluminium foil 29 and vinyl compound 30; a tab 32 is provided at the outer edge of the cover to facilitate its removal. After filling the bowl, the lid 32 is inserted, the cover 13 is placed on and the vinyl coatings of the rim and cover are sealed together to form a peelable seal 31 at the rim.
