Abstract

1,185,647. Carton end closures. TILLOTSONS (LIVERPOOL) Ltd. 5 June, 1967 [7 June, 1966], No. 25221/66. Heading B8P. A collapsible carton of the tubular kind has end closures 16, 17 formed by making incisions 18, 19 in the side walls 12, 13. When first erected from a blank the end closures appear as 17 in Fig. 1; by folding inwardly along line 21 and outwardly along line 20 the end closures appear as 16 and serve to retain e.g. tennis balls 10 within the sleeve. Figs. 3-6 (not shown) illustrate other embodiments where the bottom edge of end closure 16 is spaced above wall 14 or extends outwardly beyond the edge of wall 14.
