Abstract

1,183,039. Spray carburetters. BENDIX CORP. March 29, 1967 [April 5, 1966], No. 14245/67. Heading F1B. In a constant suction type carburetter, a curved plate 62 Fig. 1 is rotated into position upstream of the fuel jet 18 to produce enrichment of the mixture. In Fig. 1 the plate 62 is carried by a rotatable sleeve 60 formed with a pinion 63 engaged by a rack 64 which is operated manually either independently or from the throttle valve linkage. In Fig. 3 (not shown) the plate (42) is curved about the fuel orifice axis and about a pivoting axis (44). When enrichment is not desired the plate retracts into a recess (38) from which it protrudes into the induction passage for enrichment. The plate is operated by linkage either from the throttle valve linkage or from a piston actuated by intake manifold suction.
