A terminal device for electric cables comprises a bolt part 1, shaped at one end 2 to form a wedge surface inclined at 15-35 degrees to the axis, and a ring part 3 having a sharp forward edge 8 to bite through the cable insulation and clamp the cable to the surface 2. As shown, a threaded bolt and rings are held in plastics sleeves to form a sleeve coupling. The bolt may be longitudinally grooved at its ends to locate the cable and may be formed of a segment (31) disposed along one side of a plastics bolt part integral with a sleeve (Fig. 13, not shown). Unthreaded bolt and ring parts may be loosely disposed in interengageable threaded sleeves (17, 18, Fig. 6, not shown). Two pairs of cables may be respectively joined by dividing the bolt and nut parts longitudinally and providing a stop, or making the cross-section non-circular to ensure correct register (Fig. 7, not shown). A fusible wire (15, Fig. 4, not shown) may be located in a glass tube (14) joining two shaped end pieces (12, 13) forming the bolt part. Each contact pin of a banana plug or two-pin plug (Fig. 2, not shown) may be formed at its rear by a shaped bolt part to which the leads are attached.
