Abstract

775,287. Cable terminals. BRITISH FEDERAL WELDER & MACHINE CO., Ltd., and TRIBE, T. F. Aug. 31,1955, No. 25060/55. Class 38 (1). A kickless welding cable of the type comprising a pair of multi-core cables 11, 12 in a common sheath 17 and separated by an insulating web 18 is provided with terminal connectors by inserting each cable in a copper tube 20 and deforming the tube in a power press to form a semi-cylindrical portion 24 gripping the cable and a flat connector portion 25. The connectors are then placed back-to-back with an insulating separator 34 between them and drilled at 35 to receive terminals. Coolant tubes 22 in the connectors connect with similar tubes in the cables and the sheath 17 is secured to the connectors by a clip 31. Fig. 8 shows a common tube 40 for two cables which after deformation symmetrically about a line 41 is parted at that line to provide two connectors simultaneously.
