Abstract
1415796 Connecting coaxial cables; two-part couplings RAYCHEM CORP 30 Jan 1973 [2 Feb 1972] 4494/73 Heading H2F The screen 14 of a coaxial cable 10 is connected to a plurality of contacts 20 positioned in an insulating block 17 by a rigid unitary conductive article 37, while the centre conductor 14 of the cable is connected directly to a contact 19 in the block 17. The article 37 shown comprises two coaxial cylinders 38, 39 joined by a flange 40 but in another embodiment (Figs. 12, 13, 14) it comprises a semi-cylindrical portion 62 with two tangential walls (64, 63) and a semicylindrical end-extension (65). The cylinder 39 is joined to the outside of the screen 14 by a solder 46 which flows from holes 47 on heating under the action of a heat-shrinking sleeve 45. The centre conductor 45 soldered to the contact 19 and enclosed in a heat shrinking sleeve 32. The cylinder 38 is soldered to four contacts 20 (Fig. 9, not shown). The contacts 19, 20 are sleeves and may be mated with pin contacts mounted in a block 18 and connected to a coaxial cable 11 in the same manner.
