Abstract

793,876. Sleeve couplings. BRITISH INSULATED CALLENDER'S CABLES, Ltd. June 28, 1956 [June 28, 1955], No. 18722/55. Class 38 (1). Two conductors 24, 25 are joined by two grooved members 1, 13, member 13 being slid axially into member 1 and the two members being then compressed about the conductors. Member 13 is retained in member 1 before compression by the engagement of surfaces 6 and 20 and of feet 19 and shoulders 7. The end of conductor 25 is splayed out, as shown, before being laid in groove 9 in member 1. The inner surfaces of the members may be grooved (Fig. 7, not shown) and the joint may be housed in a box filled with insulating compound (Fig. 14, not shown).
