Abstract

1,153,539. Sheathed electric heating elements. GRIMWOOD ELECTRICAL PRODUCTS PTY Ltd. 19 June, 1967 [1 Nov., 1966], No. 28261/67. Heading H5H. A tubular metal sheathed resistor heater 10 has a resistor 15 doubled back to provide a pair of resistor legs 16 held in spaced parallel relationship by a frangible insulating bushing 18 having a slot 19 receiving light portion 17 and surrounded by finely divided MgO or similar material 23 which is compacted by transversely flattening the sheath 10, in the same plane as the legs 16 of resistor 15, using dies 27. The legs 16 are attached to terminals 13 sealed at one end of the tubular sheath 10 in a mica body 24, Fig. 4 (not shown), with a central frangible body 25. The other end of sheath 10 is flattened to close it after a rubber plug 21 is removed (see Figs. 8, 9, not shown). Two resistors 15, 15a are used in another embodiment, Figs. 10-13 (not shown).
