Abstract

1,159,968. Panelled partition structures. G. A. WILLIAMSON. 22 June, 1967 [24 March, 1966], No. 13138/66. Heading E1W. Partition panels are secured between a floor and ceiling by wedges driven in between the the top face of the wall and the ceiling and/or the bottom face of the wall and the floor at an angle to the wall. The upper edge of each of the panels 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, has a groove. 21 which receives a guide strip 11 fixed to the ceiling, thereby locating the upper edge with respect to the ceiling the vertical edges of each of the panels have grooves 25 which receive bars 9 serving to interlock adjacent panels, and the lower edges of the panels, are inclined to the angle, of the wedges 24 which to secure the panels, are driven into .the space between lower edges of the panels and a batten 12 secured to the floor. Where the partition abuts a main wall 28, it is located by a vertical batten 27 in alignment with the guide strip 11 and floor batten 12. The wedges are concealed by skirting boards on opposite sides of the partition. The partition may include corner pieces 30, locking pieces 43, 44 and door frames 29 with panels 6 above the door frames secured by wedges 24 between the panel and the lintel 36.
