Abstract

1,173,555. Walls or partitions. J. BENDER. 8 July, 1968 [13 July, 1967], No. 32543/68. Headings E1B and E1W. Insulation filled panels 1 each comprise sheet metal facing sheets 6, 7 doubly folded at the vertical edges to extend re-entrantly into the panel edges so as to define edge grooves for the reception of connecting keys 3 and have each a lower edge groove 16 which receives a bottom rail 2. The width of the keys may be such that slots 61 remain between panel edges of sufficient width to admit an internal member which may be turned to engage the internal faces of the bent edges of the facing sheets, such internal member being of trapezia shape, Figs. 4-6 (not shown), for use with panel edges according to Fig. 1, or being of parallel pipedic shape as at 94, Fig. 7 for use panels whose edges formed by right angle bends of the facing sheets, the key 81 in this embodiment presenting an opening 82 within which the member 94 can be turned and in which is the member 94 resiliently held by wings forming part of a sheet steel covering on the key. An external member, such as 95, connected to the internal member such as 94 by screwthreaded means 68 constitute a device for securing other components to the wall comprised by the panels 1. At the upper ends of the panels 1, a screwjack 51 acting between sections 31, 32 respectively engaging the panels and a ceiling, serves to secure the panels in position. Trim plates 57 are clipped between the sections 31, 32. The vertical wing of an angle 47 on the section 32 engages a groove in the ceiling. If the panels are employed for an outer wall, the joints formed at the grooves 16 and by the keys 3 are sealed as illustrated in Figs. 10 and 11 (not shown).
