Abstract

1,157,775. Spray nozzle. "AUTOMATIC" SPRINKLER CORP. OF AMERICA. 22 Feb., 1968, No. 8661/68. Heading B2F. A nozzle for producing a spray in the form of a flat fan pattern comprises a .domeshaped body enclosing a cavity, a narrow transverse slot formed in the body and through which fluid can escape; from the cavity, the body including spaced apart lips that project outwardly beyond the dome shape to extend the fluid flow path down stream from the dome shape. The dome shaped body, in combination with a pilot operated valve, is shown in Fig. 1 wherein the dome shaped body 19 contains a cavity 20, slot 21 and spaced apart lips 19A. In a modification (Fig. 5), a cylindrical sleeve 24 is positioned within the cavity, the sleeve having oppositely disposed outwardly extending angular wings 26 to reduce the width of the flat fan pattern.
