Abstract

1,208,527. Spray-producers. P I T T W A Y CORP. 8 May, 1969 [8 May, 1968], No. 23621/ 69. Heading B2F. (Also in Division F1] An aerosol spray, e.g. of starch granules in a solvent, is ejected by way of the valve of a container through a button or actuator 10, Figure 2, having an annular tapered expansion channel 16-18 around a knob 20, swirl chamber 22, and a terminal orifice 24 contained within an insert 28. The length of the wall 23 of the orifice 24 governs the depth of .the coneshaped spray ejected. Miner modifications to the illustrated orifice insert are disclosed (Figures 5 to 8, not shown). In another embodiment, the swirl chamber (70) is formed within the knob (20) (Figures 13-15, not shown). In yet a further embodiment, the button 40, Figure 9, is mounted on the stem 42 of a toggle action tilt valve 44. Starch product held within the button or actuator when the flow ceases drains into the lower portion of the expansion channel and may crystallize into granules 30, see Figure 2.
