Abstract

1,143,986. Spray carburetters. DAIMLERBENZ A. G. June 19, 1967 [June 22, 1966], No. 28177/67. Heading F1B. In a carburetter having an idling orifice 29 and transitional orifices 27, 28, connected to the idling fuel passage 25, a baffle 36 co-operates with the throttle valve 17 to direct all the air-flow past the transitional parts 27, 28, when the throttle valve is opened slightly beyond the idling position. The baffle 37, which excuses smooth transition from idling operation to operation on the main fuel nozzle 13, is formed in a flange 34 secured to the outlet end of the throttle block 14. Alternatively the baffle may be formed as an insert in the plate 34. In Fig. 5 the baffle 44 is pivoted and spring-loaded to the operational position, the air-flow causing the baffle to retract against the side wall when the throttle valve opens beyond the transitional position.
