Abstract

1,154,813. Idling systems of fuel injection engines. DAIMLER - BENZ A. G. Aug. 23, 1967 [Sept. 2, 1966], No. 38768/67. Heading F1B In an engine having fuel injection into the individual intake pipes 11, idling air supplied through a duct 19 by-passing the throttle valve 13 is heated by arranging for the duct 19 to extend in, or in close proximity to, the exhaust conduit 18 which also heats the portion of each intake pipe 11 opposite its fuel injection nozzle. In Fig. 2 a portion of the duct 19 is formed in the wall of the exhaust pipe 18 and is connected by a portion 19a to a portion 19b cast integrally with the intake pipes 11, the idling air passing through orifice 26 into the intake pipes. Exhaust pipe 18 is cast integrally with the intake pipes 11 and heats up zones 23 of each pipe opposite the fuel nozzles 24. The idling air-flow is regulated by a screw 20.
