Abstract

PURPOSE: To distribute a uniform mixture to the cylinders of an internal combustion engine with centralized fuel injection.
CONSTITUTION: An air horn 4 has an expanded part 7 and a lower elongated part 8 extednding almost perpendicularly to the expanded part. A part 10 for fitting an injector 9 projects on the wall of the expanded part 7, which faces the lower elongated part. A throttle valve 11 is installed in an intake passage 3 at the lower elongated part 8 at the downstream side of the injector 9. When the throttle valve 11 is in its idling position, the upper end of the valve is located at or slightly below a plane which is almost perpendicular to the axis of the intake passage 3 and contains the line of intersection of the inside surface of the intake passage at the lower elongated part 8 with the surface of a cone of fuel injected and atomized from the injector 9. The throttle valve 11 serves as a damper to regulate the mixing of the fuel with introduced air.
