Abstract
PURPOSE: To permit atomization of fuel at the time of the low-speed low-load engine operating condition by providing a second throttle valve within an intake passage on the downstream side of a carburetor valve and also providing an auxiliary intake passage bypassing the second throttle valve and provided on the inner wall with a plurality of protuberances.
CONSTITUTION: A second throttle valve 14 is provided within an intake passage 5 on the downstream side of a throttle valve (not shown), and also an auxiliary intake passage 27 of a small diameter is formed to communicate the intake passage between the throttle valve and second throttle valve 14 and the intake passage in the neighborhood of an intake valve 6. The inner wall of the auxiliary intake passage 27 is provided with a number of protuberances 30, which function to atomize fuel. The second throttle valve is interlocked to the throttle valve, and at the time of the low-speed low-load engine operating condition it is closed so that air-fuel mixture is injected from the auxiliary intake passage 27 into a combustion chamber 4.
