Abstract

The travelling carriage 1 of a ropeway crane has a central longitudinal passage which allows the carriage to pass over the cable cradles 15 as it is drawn along the standing cable 8 by a haulage cable 9, 9<SP>1</SP>. A lifting rope 11 is guided by idlers 12 round pulleys 13 and passes down to the load in two portions 11<SP>1</SP>, 11<SP>11</SP>. The cradles are attached to the standing rope 8 at 16 and to a guiding and spacing rope 22. The latter runs between vertical rollers 23 and over horizontal rollers 24 on the carriage. Wheels 17 on the cradles guide the reverse haulage cable 9<SP>1</SP> and a pair of coaxial wheels 20 support the haulage cable 9 and the lifting rope 11 when they sag as the carriage moves away from a particular cradle.
