Abstract

1,202,090. Winding apparatus. MITSUBISHI JUKOGYO K.K. 14 Nov., 1967, No. 51877/67. Heading B8B. Wires 10, 10<SP>1</SP> for timber hauling are guided on to respective drums 13, 13<SP>1</SP> of a vehicle winching apparatus by vertical rollers 9, horizontal upper and lower rollers 8, 8<SP>1</SP>, 7, 7<SP>1</SP>, guide sheaves 6, 6<SP>1</SP>, and rolling sheaves 5, 5<SP>1</SP>, which are each swingable about an axis in the plane of the sheave to facilitate the laying of wire on the associated drum. The rollers 7, 7<SP>1</SP>, 8, 8<SP>1</SP>, 9 centralize wires leading to the vehicle from upwardly, downwardly and sideways directions, and are mounted together with the guide and rolling sheaves on an arched frame on the vehicle, rearwardly of the drums. Each rolling sheave 5 is mounted on a rolling stay which is swingable about an axis in the plane of the sheave 5 and which is spring biased against assuming its normal gravitationally determined position. The said spring arrangement facilitates the orderly laying of wire on the drums.
