1308398 Hauling DET NORSKE SKOGFORSOKSVESEN 23 Dec 1970 61241/70 Heading B8B A tree hauling apparatus comprises a vehicle 2 provided with a pair of coaxial winch drums 80 for winding opposite ends 87, 89 of a looped haulage cable 84, and a tree delimbing device 26 through which trees are hauled by the cable during transport between a tree felling and a tree depositing location, at each of which a return pulley for the cable is anchored. The cable 84 is supported above the delimbing device 26 by one of a pair of pulleys 66, 68, the support arms 62, 64 of which are rotatable under power about an axis longitudinally of the vehicle such that the pulley 66 supports the cable until a tree supporting strap 92 on the cable has passed the pulley 68 whereafter the latter moves in to support the cable and the pulley 66 retracts to permit free passage of the strap 92 therepast. The trees are guided out of the device 26 by rollers 40, 42 biased together. The device 26, pulleys 66, 68 and rollers 40, 42 are mounted on a frame 60, 9, which is rotatable on the vehicle about a vertical axis to facilitate an angular infeed of trees to the apparatus. In the embodiment of Figs. 9a, 9b (not shown) the two ends of cable leave the vehicle in the same direction, pass over a set of two pulleys at the depositing location and two pairs of pulleys above the delimbing device, and finally around a return pulley at the felling location. This facilitates the movement of one tree from the felling location as soon as another tree is deposited at the other location, a tree supporting strap being associated with each run of the cable between the two locations.
