Abstract

1,028,551. Overhead travelling cranes. STRABAG BAU-A.G. Jan. 2, 1964 [Sept. 27, 1963], No. 271/64. Heading B8B. An overhead travelling crane is supported by a single rail 19 which passes axially through a winding-drum 4 which encloses a winding-motor 9 and a driving ring and pinion 7, 8. The drum is mounted on a tubular core 1 and has a brake drum 10 with shoes 11 operated by cylinders 12. Arms 14 carry a rope guide 13 which is driven by a chain 15. The device is supported on the rail by pulleys 16, mounted on a pivoted carriage 18 pivoted to the core 1 by pivots 23, and rollers 17, which bear on opposite sides of the rail. Travel along the rail is effected by an endless cable 20 driven by a motor 21 at one end thereof. The empty strand of cable passes through the hollow rail which is rectangular in cross-section.
