Abstract

1,183,129. Winches. JEAN POMAGALSKI S.A. 18 Dec., 1967 [28 Dec., 1966], No. 57311/67. Heading B8B. A driven winch or hoist pulley 14 is associated with a compression wheel 26 which presses through a lever advantage, the slack side 38<SP>11</SP> of a loaded cable 38 into a groove in the pulley 14 in accordance with the amount of tension in the traction side 38<SP>1</SP> of the cable, to facilitate adhesion between cable and groove. The wheel 26 is mounted on an axle 28 secured to a lever 31 which is pivoted at 32 to the frame 10 of the pulley 14. A roller 34 mounted on an axle 36 secured to the lever 31 is engageable by the traction side 38<SP>1</SP> of the cable, and with increase in tension therein causes the lever 31 to pivot to push the wheel 26 into the pulley groove. The winching apparatus is supported by a pivoted hook 12 and is driven by a hand lever 24 and driving pawl 22 engaging teeth 18 on the circumference of the pulley. A holding pawl 20 prevents run back of the loaded pulley.
