Abstract

1,118,873. Air heating apparatus. HOOVER Ltd. 4 March, 1965 [6 Dec., 1963], No. 48337/63. Heading F4W. A fluid fuel fired domestic space heater comprising a gas burner 11, a flame failure device 14, a combustion chamber 10 and a convection type heat exchanger 20 formed of two parts 21, 22 connected by pipes 23, is connected to a balanced flue, Fig. 3 (not shown), in an external wall by small-bore coaxial pipes 31, 32, forming inlet and exhaust passages, the cross-sectional area thereof being not more than 1“ square inches per burner rate of 10,000 B.T.U. per hour. The combustion air and products are impelled by a blower 25 through the chamber 10, heat exchanger 20 and outlet pipe 29 to exhaust coupling 30 adjacent air inlet coupling 27, the blower being situated in either of the couplings. The pipes 31, 32 may be separate or may comprise side-by-side extruded section.
